Head of Brazil’s Environmental Protection Agency Says It Is Not His Job to Protect the Environment : TreeHugger

Sometimes people speak the truth without meaning to. In this case the head of Brazil’s Environmental protection agency IBAMA, Curt Trennepohl, was speaking on the record to Australia’s “60 Minutes”.  If claiming that his job wasn’t to protect the Environment wasn’t enough to agitate, he then goes on to say the following concerning indigenous peoples who fight development projects:

“You have the Aborigines there [in Australia]. You don’t respect them,” Trennepohl told Langdon.

“So you’re going to do to the Indians what we did to the Aborigines?” she asked.

“Yes. Yes. Yes,” he said.
