DOE, NRC and state department CANNOT account for 5900 lbs of Weapons-Grade Material …

The US Government, you know, the government that will go to war at the drop of a hat to secure Weapons of Mass Destruction, cannot track nearly 5900 lbs of weapons-grade material that it shipped to other states.

The Government Accountability Office in the US has issued a report which you can access here:

The Report makes this observation which should make us all sit up and freak out:

DOE and NRC do not have a comprehensive, detailed, current inventory of U.S. nuclear
material—-including weapon-usable material such as highly enriched uranium (HEU) and separated plutonium-—overseas that includes the
country, facility, and quantity of material.
