Guardian is reporting on a wonderful bust-up between Sarkozy and Cameron in Brussels. I think this is perhaps the single best exchange I’ve seen between two leaders in a while.
Sarkozy bluntly told Cameron: “You have lost a good opportunity to shut up.” He added: “We are sick of you criticising us and telling us what to do. You say you hate the euro and now you want to interfere in our meetings.”
I am the last person on earth to praise Mr. Bruni, but in this instance – Bravo. Small thing … diplomacy? I thought you guys at the top were supposed to be all deferential and polite at moments like this. Ooops.
