Dangerous Minds blog notes that the President of the Central Mississippi Tea Party – Janis Lane – is a moron. Now I’m not going to go that far, because frankly, I’m too shocked to believe that someone can be so insanely niave to hold the views uttered by Ms. Lane. However, that being said, here’s the excerpt from an on-air conversation with two other members of the Tea Party:
Our country might have been better off if it was still just men voting. There is nothing worse than a bunch of mean, hateful women. They are diabolical in how than can skewer a person.
Wait … what? I’m assuming she self-identifies as a woman, and as a woman she’s aware of the incongruity of being president of a local political movement while simultaneously advocating her own disenfranchisement? I should say she doesn’t. She’s content to go on after letting slip this doozy of an admission, that now that the franchise is out of the bag, every god fearing Christian should use it to stand up for their country and vote. She can’t decide which way she wants it.
Surely this is a self-rectifying situation? Ms. Lane, please stand in a corner and don’t vote this November. Please.
Seriously, the question is how Ms. Lane got to the point of hating on women so badly? How does this kind of horrendous narrative become successfully internalized in the 21st century?
