Welcome to hell. The Conservative Innovation in Legislative Practice.

Demonstrating what can only be described as a viciously cynical innovation in legislative practice, the Canadian conservative party has opted to introduce yet another omnibus bill.

Stephen Harper didn’t invent prorogation and omnibus legislation, but he has made two arcane polysyllabic political terms part of our everyday lexicon, improving our vocabulary but diminishing our democracy.

Currently its contents are under scrutiny, but Tim Harper spells out some of the more attrocious features, including language designed to obfuscate – 443 pages of it. The Jobs and Growth Act will only provide jobs for the poor bastards who have to read it and parse its verbosity for the rest of us.
