Austerity’s new frontier: Ontario

With the Passing of Bill 115 today, Ontario has put public service workers and Unionized workers on notice. This bill is not about teachers. Its actually about setting the stage for widespread public spending cuts and the evisceration of collective bargaining.

There will be arguments that everyone needs to share the pain, however, McGuinty is being somewhat selective of who “everyone” includes.

There are no increases in corporate taxes planned in Ontario. And before you start to utter that corporations create jobs, you need to check yourself. Actually job creation takes place when demand increases. Who creates demand? Consumers. Who are consumers? Well among them are the very people who are being asked to carry the burden for McGuinty’s inability to manage the province responsibly.
